Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 19 New Haven, 19-3

RINDGE, N.H. (March 8, 2019) – A 13-goal first half was more than enough for No. 19 nationally ranked New Haven on Friday afternoon, as the visiting Chargers dealt the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team a 19-3 loss in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Senior midfielder Mackenzie Reh piled up eight points on seven goals and an assist to lead the way for New Haven.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 3-1 (2-1 NE10), while New Haven improves to 2-1 (1-0 NE10).

New Haven took the drama out of the Friday afternoon matchup early on, as the Chargers ran off the first 12 goals of the game over the opening 18:19 and never looked back. Reh scored five of her seven goals in the game-opening run, while junior attack Julia Jette dished out four straight assists at one point, on the way to her own five-point day (1-4-5).

Franklin Pierce got on the board with 7:19 to play in the half, courtesy of a goal from junior attack Bella Lima (Hudson, Mass.), and the Ravens would trail 13-1 heading into halftime. Lima added another goal in the second half, while sophomore attack Caroline Lounsbury (Franklin, Mass.) struck for the Ravens as well. Reh and junior attack Kendra Nolan scored twice each in the second half for New Haven, as the Chargers posted a 6-2 advantage in the second period, on the way to the 19-3 victory.

Lima and Lounsbury represented the entirety of the Franklin Pierce offense on the day. Defensively, freshman defender Madisyn Van Horn (Pulaski, N.Y.) collected two ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Freshman attack Savannah Ernst (American Fork, Utah) corralled three draw controls and snagged a ground ball as well.

For New Haven, Reh (7-1-8) and Jette (1-4-5) did the heavy lifting offensively, while Nolan added four goals as well. Junior defender Raven Linton picked up a game-best five ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers along the way. Nolan led all players with eight draw controls, while Reh added five of her own and Linton collected four.

Freshman goalkeeper Megan Bacik (Huntington Station, N.Y.) started and logged the opening 22:41 in the Franklin Pierce net. She suffered the loss (3-1) after finishing with three saves against 15 shots. Junior Casey Butera (West Milford, N.J.) took over the rest of the way and stopped one of eight shots over the final 37:19.

Junior netminder Gianna Guerra (2-1) went the distance in the New Haven net and finished with 12 saves against 15 shots.

The Ravens return to the field on Monday, March 18, when they travel to Le Moyne for an NE10 contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Ted Grant Field in Syracuse, N.Y.
