PROVIDENCE, R.I. (10/18/24) – The Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team surrended three goals in the second period on Tuesday night, to fall 8-1 in the final.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Ravens kept the Bears at bay for most of the 1st period, up until 1:08 left in the stanza. Anna Shelden fed a pass to Cameron Sikich who buried a shot from the left circle to give the Bears the 1-0 heading into the 1st intermission. 

  • The Ravens had a harder time containing the Bears in the 2nd period. They struck for 3 goals to take a commanding 4-0 lead.  

  • The Ravens finally broke through on the power play in the 2nd period. Junior forward Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) dished a pass to junior forward McKenzie Rich (Rochester, Minn.) who fired a wrister from the right circle, to cut the deficit to 4-1.  

  • The Bears responded with a pair of goals to extend their lead to 6-1 heading into the 2nd intermission.  

  • The Bears added 2 more in the back of the net in the 3rd period, securing the 8-1 win. 

 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens will look for revenge against the Brown Bears tomorrow as they square off at home at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass. Puck drop is at 7 PM.
