Ketterman’s 100th Career Point, Koop Pair Highlight Women’s Hockey’s 8-0 Win Against Post

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 7, 2017) – Senior forward Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) corralled a loose puck in the slot and put a shot into the left side of the net, scoring her 13th goal of the season at the 13:52 mark of the second period on Tuesday night. With two assists already on the ledger, the goal marked her 100th career point, a moment which highlighted an 8-0 win for the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team in non-conference play against Post at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 15-5-1, while Post falls to 0-19-0. The Ravens outshot Post 63-4 on the night, including 22-0 in the first period.

Ketterman -- who tallied her 50th career assist on Friday at UMass Boston -- became the second player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau, with 48-52-100 through 97 career games. Ketterman currently ranks second all-time in program annals in goals, as well as fourth in assists. She joins Karsyn Baker '16 -- who finished with 59-62-121 in 97 career contests -- in the program's 100-point club. Junior forward Alex Brolsma (Bloomington, Minn.) will likely be the next Raven to hit the century mark, as she currently sits at 29-55-84 in 70 career games. With just five games left in the season, Brolsma is on pace to hit the milestone early in her senior season.

Ketterman got the chase for 100 started early on Tuesday night, assisting on the opening score, which was also the eventual game-winning goal, just 1:42 into the proceedings. Ketterman was in the left circle and took a feed from freshman defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) at the left point. Ketterman then put the puck towards the net, finding freshman forward Jillian Koop (Youngstown, N.Y.) on the right post. The latter had an easy redirect finish from there to cash in her first collegiate goal.

The Ravens would make it 2-0 heading into the intermission with a goal at the 19:07 mark. Senior forward Michelle Holmes (Goffstown, N.H.) scored her 12th of the season on a one-time finish from the slot, off a feed from the left-wing corner from freshman forward Kelsey Holmes (Warwick, R.I.). Freshman forward Meg Gilbride (Braintree, Mass.) provided an assist on the play as well.

The Ravens would pour in four goals in the second stanza to stretch the lead to 6-0. Ketterman picked up her second assist of the night at 8:47, as she sent the puck from the right corner into the right circle for senior forward Nina Danforth (Stratford, Conn.). Danforth then found Koop at the left post to set up the latter's second goal of the game.

Ketterman's 100-point moment followed at 13:52, as she was able to chase down a loose puck between the hash marks, turn, take a quick shot and beat Post freshman goaltender Mikaella Doran to the blocker side, touching off a celebration from a team which was very aware of the milestone situation. Freshman defenseman Lauren White (Westwood, Mass.) and Koop were credited with the assists on Ketterman's team-leading 13th of the year.

Less than two minutes later, at 15:44, Brolsma cashed in her 11th of the season by burying a rebound from the left side on the power play. Freshman defenseman Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.) took the original shot on the play, from the right point, while junior defenseman Erin Pengeroth (Acton, Mass.) also added the first of her two assists.

Senior forward Lanie Matsumoto (Fort Collins, Colo.) added her seventh of the campaign at 18:29 to make it 6-0 heading into the second intermission. She provided a finish from the top of the crease after Gilbride worked the puck out front from the right post. Senior defenseman Katie Flynn (Sandwich, Mass.) tallied an assist as well, as she led the initial rush into the offensive zone.

Two more goals in the latter half of the third period created the 8-0 final. At 14:02, Brolsma knocked home a rebound at the right post for her second of the night, while freshman defenseman Delaney Guimont (Bedford, N.H.) picked up the lone assist. At 16:23, Pengeroth put a long shot into traffic from the blue line, with Danforth deflecting the puck en route to pick up her second goal of the season.

Junior goaltender Madison Murray (Berkley, Mich.) got the start and logged the opening 47:56 in net for the Ravens. She stopped all three shots she faced to pick up the win (3-1-0). Freshman netminder Jessica Strack (Reading, Mass.) made her collegiate debut and picked up one save over the remaining 12:04 to finish off the team's ninth shutout of the season.

At the other end of the ice, Doran (0-7-0) piled up 55 saves against 63 shots, but was stuck with the loss for Post.

The Ravens return to the ice on Saturday, Feb. 11, when they remain home to host New England College in a New England Hockey Conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.
