Women's Golf Takes Home First Following Rain Abbreviated Home Tournament

CANDIA, N.H. (April 19, 2019) The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team hosted their second tournament of the season, the Franklin Pierce Spring Invitational at the Candia Woods Golf Links and brought home the team championship following one round of play.

The Ravens totaled an opening round 311 (+27) easily bettering second place and Northeast-10 Conference opponent Merrimack College's 336 (+52) score. Fellow conference program, Assumption College tallied a 342 (+58) for the third slot. Due to rain in the forecast on Saturday, the second round was canceled.

Two Ravens tied for first individually with Krystal Knight of Merrimack for the top slot. Junior Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) and reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week, freshman Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.) shot 77 (+6) scorecards.

This week's NE10 Women's Golfer of the Week, senior Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) deadlocked with Assumption's Catherine French for fourth firing a 78 (+7) 18 hole showing. Junior Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) capped off the Ravens top-10 golfers placing sixth at 79 (+8). Senior Shannon Slater (Stafford, Conn.) in the last tournament of her career rifled a 93 (+22) while Sydney Caron (Gorham, Maine) competed as an individual putting home a 91 (+20).
