Women’s Bowling One Win Away From Championship Game Berth
PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. (March 24, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team is only one victory away from their first-ever appearance in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship Game after a perfect 2-0 day during the conference championship double elimination bracket Saturday at the Port Jeff Bowl.
The Crimson and Grey will take on no. 23 nationally-ranked Lincoln Memorial University with a spot in the championship on the line. This will be the first time the Ravens and Railsplitters have met this season.
Franklin Pierce was victorious in both matches versus Chestnut Hill College (4-2) and no. 11 Adelphi University (4-2). The win versus the Adelphi Panthers was the first time the Ravens have defeated their conference counterparts this season.
The Crimson and Grey dropped the opening two games of the day against the Griffins before exploding for four straight wins to take the series. The grouping of Alexa Asta (Jackson, N.J.), Erin Mastropietro (Mechanicville, N.Y.), Skyler Mulligan-Brown (New Milford, Conn.), Krysta Peirce (Casco, Mich.) and Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) totaled a 225 frame in the series-clinching game.
Against Adelphi, Asta, Jenna Harrington (Barneveld, N.Y.), Mulligan-Brown, Peirce, and Davies earned the start and responded by rolling a day-best 237 during game four hold a 3-1 edge in the series. Adelphi won the next game by only one pin, but the Ravens responded with a 50 pin victory to continue their quest for the conference title.
