Franklin Pierce Drops Green Mountain, 75-25

Ravens roll in season finale, Clifton nets career-best ten points

RINDGE, N.H. (February 27, 2004) - Franklin Pierce rounded out its 2003-2004 season with a 75-25 victory over Green Mountain College in a non-conference women's basketball match-up at the Franklin Pierce Fieldhouse tonight.

Franklin Pierce limited Green Mountain to 21.6-percent (11-51) shooting from the field, including 1-of-19 (5.3%) from three-point range, while hitting 44.6% (33-74) from the field at its own end. The Ravens also out-rebounded the Eagles by a 58-27 margin, including 24-20 on their own end of the court.

Freshman forward Danielle D'Ettorre (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/St. Mary's) led a balanced Franklin Pierce effort with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Classmate Mollie Stelmack (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster) added 11 points, aided by 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc, three rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Maria Clifton (New York, N.Y./Saint Michael's Academy) netted a career-high ten points (all first half) to go with four assists, three boards and two steals. Senior Susan Ocitti (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge & Latin) and freshman Christina Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) each chipped in eight points, while Ocitti grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and Collett dished three assists.

Junior Tanya DeLaMater (Troy, N.Y.) led Green Mountain with nine points and three rebounds. Freshman Bronya Shillo (Suffield, Conn.) finished with seven points, four boards and four blocks.

With the game tied at six, 6:36 into the contest, Franklin Pierce took control of the game with a 24-4 run to open a 20-point advantage (30-10) with 5:33 to play in the stanza. Stelmack sparked the run with a pair of three's, while Clifton, Collett and D'Ettorre each tallied four points.

After freshman Erica Raiche (Ita, Vt.) canned a three-pointer to cut the Franklin Pierce lead to 17 points, the Ravens closed out the half with a 10-2 run to take a 25-point (40-15) edge into the lockerroom and never let the Eagles within 25 the entire second half.

Franklin Pierce rounds out its season with an 8-19 overall mark, while Green Mountain finishes at 1-21.
