Men’s Cross Country Matches up with Canada’s Best, Takes Fifth at Interlock Invitational

MONTREAL (October 12, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team had an intense meet on Saturday, as the Ravens competed internationally over an 8k course at the Interlock Invitational. They took fifth out of 15 teams in a meet which included some of Canada's toughest competition.

Crossing first for the Ravens was sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), who ran the course in 25:29 for a 10th-place finish out of 174 runners. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) followed shortly behind with his 25th-place finish, with a time of 26:18.

Next to cross for Franklin Pierce was senior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.), whose 26:31 finish landed him in 32nd.  Graduate Student William Rawson (Atherton, England) landed in the top-50 to finish after running 27:00 and taking 48th place. Later came junior Cody Tallent (Bellows Falls, Vt.), who ran the course in 27:17 for a 54th place finish.

"A lot of positives came out of today for the men; they raced against some of the very best teams in Canada and didn't back down," said head coach Zach Emerson after the meet. "Overall, I was happy with how they each responded to their individual battles out on the course today."

Junior Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) was 70th after his 27:49 finish, with sophomore Will Aylward (Peabody, Mass.) close behind, taking 72nd with a time of 27.54. Next was senior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.), who ran in 28:16 and took 84th.  

The rest of the Franklin Pierce runners included freshman Zach Aham (Nottingham, N.H.) (28:21), senior Walker John (Boscawen, N.H.) (28:52), junior Ryan Ducrow (Amesbury, Mass.) (28:57), senior Ahmed Rabbani (Peabody, Mass.) (30:01), and sophomore Jack Lang (Shelter Island, N.Y.) (31:23).

Taking first for the teams was Laval Rouge-et-or with 27 points. They were followed by Queen's Gaels with 55 points in second, St. Francis Xavier in third with 122 points, and Dalhousie Tigers with 128 points in fourth, before the Ravens, who rounded out the top five with their 134-point performance.

The Ravens will be back at it on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in Syracuse, N.Y.
