Fenoff Takes Title; Men’s Cross Country Takes Second at UNE Invitational

BIDDEFORD, Maine (September 14, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team competed at the UNE Invitational, hosted by the University of New England, on Saturday morning. Sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) was the first to cross the finish line out of the 131 runners in the race to pick up his second career race win. His winning 8k time was 25:07. Just behind Fenoff was Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France), a junior who took second place after his 25:12 finishing time. It all added up to a second-place finish for the Ravens, out of 11 teams at the meet.

"Riley Fenoff won his second cross country race in his career in dominating fashion; he really took control of the race from a mile away from the finish line and never looked back," said head coach Zach Emerson after the meet. "Hugo also had a massive day, turning in a new personal-best time for 8k by nearly 25 seconds to grab second overall. These two runners will be a great 1-2 punch that could propel this team to some special heights this season."

Also finishing in the top 10 was Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.), a senior whose 26:43 finish landed him in 10th place. Next for the Ravens was freshman Zach Aham (Nottingham, N.H.). He finished the course in 27:07, which landed him in 13th. Behind him was junior Ryan Ducrow (Amesbury, Mass). Ducrow took 15th as the final point-scorer for the Ravens, with his 27.25 finish. All of these times allowed the Ravens to compete with an average time of 26:19.

Just out of scoring position were senior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Will Aylward (Peabody, Mass.). Hayes finished in 18th, with a time of 27:46. Aylward landed in 24th after racing the course in 28:35.

Also in the field for Franklin Pierce, senior John Walker (Boscawen, N.H.) finished in 28:50, followed by senior Ahmed Rabbini (Peabody, Mass.), who raced in 30:14. Next for the Ravens was sophomore Jack Lang, who finished in 31:04, while senior Christopher Danksewicz (Franklin, Mass) ran in 32:24.

The Ravens took a second-place finish (41 points), with Trinity University (34 points) winning by seven points. Behind the Ravens were the University of New England with 67 points in third, Maine Maritime Academy in fourth with 141 points, Gordon College in fifth with 162 points, Nichols College in sixth with 163 points, and Saint Joseph's in seventh with 193 points. Further behind were UMass Boston in eighth with 227 points, Massachusetts Maritime in ninth with 231 points, Northern Vermont-Lyndon in 10th with 284 points, and NECC in eleventh with 294 points.
