Track & Field has Four Earn Spring NE10 Academic All-Conference Honors

Spring Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selections

EASTON, Mass. (June 17, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University track & field program has had four student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for the spring, outdoor season, as announced on Monday afternoon by the Conference office. Sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France), junior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) earned the accolade for the men’s team, while junior Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.) was honored from the women’s team.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must fulfill each of the following criteria: (1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions as a starter or significant contributor, (2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and (3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The teams are chosen by the vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives. In addition, one honoree in each sport is selected as the NE10’s Sport Excellence award winner in that sport.

For Arlabosse, it marked his second career Academic All-Conference award, as he was honored during this year’s indoor season as well. It is the first Academic All-Conference selection for the other three Ravens.

Arlabosse put together a decorated outdoor campaign to wrap up his second year in Rindge. He was the NE10 champion in the 800 meters, as he backed up his indoor title with an outdoor crown as well, on the way to qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the event. Arlabosse would finish 13th at the national meet in the 800 meters, missing out on All-America honors by just over a half-second. He was also the New England champion in the 800 meters, as he captured first place at the NEICAAA Championships. The East Region’s leading performer in the event, Arlabosse was an All-East Region pick in the 800 meters as well.

Hayes ran the second leg of a 4x800-meter relay team which narrowly missed out on medal position at the NE10 Championships, as the quartet finished fourth. Arlabosse also ran the anchor leg on the relay squad.

Rua was a part of the fourth-place 4x800-meter relay squad as well, as he took the baton from Hayes and ran the third leg. Rua was also the NE10’s Elite 24 Award winner for the outdoor season, as the student-athlete with the highest GPA to compete at the NE10 Championships.

For her part, Cormier posted a sixth-place finish at the NE10 Championships in the 10,000 meters. She would later add a 21st-place finish at the NEICAAA Championships as well.
