Men’s Track & Field in Eighth Following First Day of NE10 Championships

MANCHESTER, N.H. (May 3, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team was in action at Southern New Hampshire on Friday, on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. Freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) led the way on the day with a second-place finish in the 10,000 meters, while two other Ravens qualified for event finals. The team is eighth, out of 10 teams, through the first day of the two-day meet.

Fenoff's performance earned Franklin Pierce eight points on the first day of competition. At the top of the standings, Southern Connecticut State chalked up 56 points on the first day. The Owls were followed by American International in second (30 points) and Merrimack in third (29 points).

The lone scoring of the day for the Ravens came courtesy of Fenoff in the 10,000 meters. He picked up eight points after finishing second by less than a half-second, in a race which takes over a half-hour to complete. Fenoff's time of 32:04.43 was good enough – also by about a half-second, ironically – to qualify him for the 2019 USA Track & Field U20 Outdoor Championships, to be held in Florida in late June.

Elsewhere on Friday, Franklin Pierce had two athletes post preliminary times which were good enough to qualify for event finals to be contested on Saturday. In the 800 meters, sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) won his heat in a time of 1:55.53, to post the third-fastest qualifying time. In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) qualified in third and won his heat as well, with a time of 53.80 seconds.

The NE10 Championships conclude on Saturday at SNHU.
