STORRS, Conn. (October 20, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team traveled to take on Division I University of Connecticut on Saturday afternoon. The host Huskies dealt the visiting Ravens a 7-0 defeat in non-conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-1, while Connecticut improves to 3-0.

Connecticut opened play by taking all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The Ravens held their own at both second and third doubles. At second doubles, freshman Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) and junior Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) fell to UConn sophomore John Michael Holtmann and senior Jack McLister, 6-3. At third doubles, it was a 6-4 defeat for seniors James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.).

Connecticut also took wins in all six doubles matches to post the 7-0 final. Bisazza and Gordon each claimed four games in the first set at first and third singles, respectively, but dropped identical, 6-4, 6-1 decisions to sophomore Yili Zheng and senior Hank Hill. At second singles, sophomore Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) put up a fight in the second set, before falling to Holtmann, 6-2, 6-4.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, Oct. 21, when they travel to Saint Anselm for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 1 p.m. in Manchester, New Hampshire.
