RINDGE, N.H.  (November 2, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University men's soccer junior forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) provided the no. 22 nationally-ranked Ravens with two goals and an assist as the crimson and grey upset the no. 2 nationally-ranked Adelphi University Panthers 4-1 Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference Senior Night action on Sodexo Field.

With the win, the Ravens record improves to 11-3-1, overall and 9-2-0 in league play. Pierce also pulled within one point (27) of the previously unbeaten Panthers (14-1-1, 9-1-1 NE10) for the top spot in the conference standings.

Two seniors Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) and Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) with graduate student  Javier García Borrás (Alzira, Spain) were honored in a pregame ceremony for their contributions to the team, athletic department and the Franklin Pierce University community.

Felber scored his third and fourth goals of the season in the match. His first goal was the game-winner in the 38th minute while his last marker came late in the 87th minute. He assisted on García Borrás' game-opening goal early in the ballgame. The junior matched his single-game career-high with two goals and five points which last happened on September 30, 2018, at the University of New Haven.

Pierce's stout defensive backline held the explosive Adelphi offense who leads the league in goals per game to only one tally and six total shots. The Ravens attempted 22 shot attempts in the game easily bettering their counterparts.

Poon-Lewis remained unbeaten on the season (5-0-0) stopping one shot as he drew the start in the cage. He allowed only one goal, a through ball pass which led to a one-on-one chance that Poon-Lewis played aggressively. Aidan Keenan chipped the ball over his head to tie the game. On the year, Poon-Lewis paces the NE10 in goals-against average (0.35) while teammate Clay Thomas (Franklin, Tenn.) comes in second at (0.85).

Sophomore forward Isak Helgason (Kopavogur, Iceland) added an insurance tally in the 59th minute. Laudahn found his teammate Helgason who corralled the ball, drove from the left side of the pitch to the center and buried an attempt low past Panthers netminder Matt Apicella (9-1-0). Apicella was busy in net making four saves.

Franklin Pierce returns to the pitch on Wednesday, November 6th on the road at American International College with kickoff slated for 6:00 p.m.
