SYRACUSE, N.Y.  (October 1, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team unblemished Northeast-10 Conference record came to an end Tuesday afternoon as they were shutout 2-0 by Le Moyne College on Ted Grant Field. The setback sends the crimson and gray to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 NE10 while the Dolphins swim to 6-2, 2-1 NE10.

Both teams took an even amount of shots (LMC – 12, FPU – 11), but only three apiece were on goal for each program. The Dolphins capitalized knocking home two of their three on goal attempts.

Coming off his second shutout of the year, graduate student Clay Thomas (Franklin, Tenn.) was in net for Pierce and allowed a season-high two goals while making one save. His record moved to 3-2-1 on the campaign. Josh Mahr was the oppositions starting keeper and he earned his third clean sheet of the season increasing his record to 6-2. Mahr stopped three shot attempts in the victory.

Le Moyne cracked the scoring column in the sixth minute. The Dolphins were awarded a corner and scored off it when Tom Henne found Mirko Orchi for the low left tally. They added an insurance marker in the 28th minute off the foot of a Robert Rohrhirsch free-kick high into the center of the cage.

The Ravens had an opportunity to come within one in the 41st minute. Javier Gonzalez Carraminana (Madrid, Spain) rocketed an attempt from just inside the box that was turned away by the Dolphins keeper. In the second half, the Ravens only had two more shots on goal, an Antonio Ferreira (Madrid, Spain) bash from the 25-yard line that was also corralled by Mahr and another Javier Gonzalez Carraminana shot from in close in the 88th minute.

FPU faces another stiff test this coming Saturday, October 5th when they welcome Assumption College (6-2, 4-1 NE10) to Sodexo Field for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
