Men’s Soccer’s Felber Chosen to CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

RINDGE, N.H. (December 5, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University sophomore forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) has been selected to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Men's Soccer Second Team selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) it was announced Wednesday afternoon.

To be eligible for selection, each student-athlete must own a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or significant contributor athletically. The Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on by sports information directors in the district and nation, respectively.

In his first year of eligibility for the awards, Felber snagged All-District honors and became the first Raven since Tom Reilly in 2011 to be chosen as an Academic All-American.  

Twenty-five of the 34 members of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer teams have at least a 3.80 GPA, with nine student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.89.

Felber, a 2018 Northeast-10 Conference Third Team honoree set new personal-bests in games played (18), games started (17), goals (6), assists (3), points (15), shots (43), shots on goal (21) and game-winning goals (3). Felber was second on the Ravens in goals, assists, and was tied for the team lead in points. The sophomore notched five points (two goals, one assist) in a 3-1 Raven win at New Haven on September 30th. He followed that up with a four-point (two goals) effort a couple of weeks later in a 3-1 victory at the hands of Saint Michael's on October 9th. Felber. A management major, he worked equally as hard in the classroom resulting in an unblemished 4.0 GPA. He was one of two Second Team members to maintain a perfect GPA.

Franklin Pierce ended their season with a 7-10-1 overall mark, a 6-6-1 record in NE10 play and suffered an opening-round exit in the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference Championship.
