Felber’s Five Points Help Ravens Snap Losing Skid

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (September 30, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University men's soccer sophomore forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) tallied two goals and one assist as the Ravens snapped their six-game losing streak with a dominant 3-1 victory against Northeast-10 Conference opponent the University of New Haven Sunday evening at Kathy Zolad Stadium. With the win, the Crimson and Grey notch their first conference victory while the Chargers dropped their third conference contest.

Pierce was trailing 1-0 following Nate Peduzzi's second goal of the season, a cross and header conversion which put New Haven ahead in the 58th minute. Two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Kidino Jones (Randolph, Mass.) stroked a through ball to Felber and his shot attempt went into the lower left corner to bring the match to a deadlock.

Felber manufactured the game-winning goal during the 75th minute after rocking home a Jones short pass to the middle of the box that deflected off a defender and past New Haven netminder Stefano Lorusso.

Jones capped off his four-point effort with his first career marker, an insurance goal in the 84th minute assisted by Felber and Raven goalkeeper Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) to squash any hopes of a Charger comeback.

The Ravens outshot UNH 18-to-8 and 12-to-2 in the first half. They also held the advantage in corner kicks 10-to-5. Poon-Lewis stopped two shots in the contest while Lorusso made eight saves including three impressive and acrobatic grabs in the opening 30 minutes.

FPU returns home to Sodexo Field on Wednesday for their makeup battle with Saint Anselm College at 7:00 p.m.
