#24 Men’s Soccer Records Fifth Straight Win With 3-1 Victory Over Golden Knights

RINDGE, N.H. (September 20, 2017) – Senior defender Hamish Cadigan (Christchurch, New Zealand) recorded a three point effort with a goal and an assist as the no. 24 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team's winning streak reached five matches with a 3-1 victory versus Northeast-10 Conference foe the College of Saint Rose Wednesday evening on Sodexo Field.

The loss sends the Golden Knights to 1-5-0, 1-2-0 NE10 while the win upped the Ravens record to 5-0-0, 3-0-0 NE10. Franklin Pierce's five consecutive victories is the longest streak to begin a campaign since the 2011 season when the Ravens were victorious in their opening 10 contests before suffering a 1-1 tie to the University of New Haven on October 8th.

Cadigan helped the Ravens get on the board in the 30th minute as he lofted a cross from the left side into the box to sophomore defender Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) who headed the ball into the top right of the cage.

Three minutes later, Cadigan added an insurance tally when he shot a free kick from a few yards out under the wall set up in front of Golden Knight keeper Gianni Carillo. The wall blocked Carillo's view as the ball sneaked past him to make the score 2-0 in the first half. Cadigan currently leads the Ravens in assists (2) and points (6) five games into the year.

In the 77th minute sophomore midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Liman, Israel) completed a cross from the left side to the bottom left of the box. Freshman midfielder Joel Peterson (Christchurch, New Zealand) swung his leg into the air and footed the ball into the bottom left to push the Raven lead to 3-0.

Franklin Pierce looked well on their way to their fourth consecutive shutout victory, but Suleiman Haruna-iya headed home an attempt in the 83rd minute. The goal snapped the 407:32 minute shutout streak for sophomore goalkeeper Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) who improved to 5-0-0 with a four save effort. He currently has a 0.39 goals against average and has made 17 saves across five matches this year.

The Ravens head out away from the friendly confines of Sodexo Field for a quick two game road trip beginning with NE10 opponent Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
