Daniel Donaldson & Amory Houghton Named to 2011 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-Tournament Team

Franklin Pierce concluded the season with a 21-1-1 record and a trip to the Division II Final Four

RINDGE, N.H. (December 5, 2011) -- Franklin Pierce University standouts Daniel Donaldson (Moenchengladbach, Germany) and Amory Houghton (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) were recently named to the 2011 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-Tournament Team for their impressive performances throughout the Ravens run to the Final Four.

Donaldson, a graduate back, was one of the top defenders in the national tournament as he helped anchor a Franklin Pierce defensive unit, which posted shutouts in a pair of matches. In fact, Franklin Pierce produced five shutouts in six post-season matches this year, when the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament is factored into the equation. 

Donaldson also had a big hand in helping to guide the Ravens to the NE-10 championship as he scored a pair of goals in Franklin Pierce's 4-0 win over Stonehill in the first round, and then followed with another marker in a 2-0 victory over Le Moyne in the semifinals. He was named to the NE-10 All-Championship Team for his efforts.

Houghton provided solid all-around play from the midfield in the national tournament and the NE-10 championship. He recorded a shot in four of Franklin Pierce's six post-season matches and helped provide solid defensive play at the midfield as the Ravens posted five shutouts.

Franklin Pierce concluded its 2011 season with an amazing 21-1-1 record and earning the fourth trip to the Final Four in program history. The 21 wins were a program record for victories in a single season. The Ravens also went 16-0-1 during the regular season, marking the first time in team history Franklin Pierce produced an unbeaten regular season record.

Franklin Pierce claimed both the NE-10 regular season and tournament championships for the second-consecutive year.
