Franklin Pierce Blanks Bentley, 2-0

Takefusa nets two, while Roma posts shutout in first career appearance

RINDGE, N.H. (September 27, 2001) - Sophomore forward Bjorgolfer Takefusa (Reykjavik, Iceland/Vt.-Business) netted both goals to lead Franklin Pierce to a 2-0 victory over Bentley College in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Crystal Field this afternoon.

In addition to Takefusa's offensive efforts, the match marked the Franklin Pierce debut of sophomore Dominico Roma (Windsor, Ontario/Ste. Annes) in goal. Roma registered three saves in posting his first shutout in a Ravens uniform.

Takefusa netted the only goal Franklin Pierce would need just 6:41 into the match as he took a short pass from senior Chris Schwarz (Babenhausen, Germany/Viktoria Aschaffenburg) and blasted it into the upper right-hand corner of the net.

Takefusa connected with junior David McDermott (Merseyside, England/Saint Mary's) on a nifty give-and-go for his second marker at 36:14.

Franklin Pierce enjoyed a 22-8 advantage in shots taken, but could not find the back of the net over the final 54-minutes of the match.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Parsons (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) posted four saves in goal for Bentley.

Franklin Pierce (5-2, 1-2 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Smithfield, R.I., for a Conference match with Bryant College at 1 p.m. Bentley (2-5-2, 1-5 NE-10) returns home to host the College of Saint Rose on Saturday at 1 p.m.
