Brillant Named NE-10 Co-Freshman of Year
Seven from FP Named to NE-10 All-Conference Men's Soccer Team
RIDNGE, N.H. (November 5, 2000) - Franklin Pierce freshman midfielder Felix Brillant (Montreal, Canada), who led the Northeast-10 Conference in assists, was named the conference's Co-Freshman of the Year it was announced Sunday.
Brillant was one of seven Ravens who earned all-conference honors and the only Franklin Pierce players named to the first team. The teams were picked by a vote of the conference coaches.
Junior forward Ernest Olius (Hillside, N.J.), junior
midfielder Chris Schwarz (Babenhausen, Germany),
junior back Wolfgang Koschnitzki (Eschborn,
Germany) and sophomore back
Paul Lindsay (Edinburgh, Scotland)
were named to the second team, while junior midfielder
Tate Travis (Detroit, Michigan) and
senior goalkeeper Rob Scholz (Schenectady, N.Y.)
were selected to the third team.
Brillant and Schwarz led the NE-10 with10 assists each this year. Brillant, a midfielder who can play on the flank or in the middle, finished with three goals and 16 points as he established himself as one of the quickest players in the conference.
Schwarz, another versatile midfielder, had 10 goals and 10 assists as he led the Ravens in scoring with 30 points. He was named the New England Collegiate Conference rookie of the year last season.
Olius, a former junior college All-America, led the Ravens with 11 goals in his first season at FPC. Koschnitzki and Lindsay anchored a back line that helped the Ravens limit opponents to 27 goals in 19 games.
Travis, another first-year player, was third on the team with nine goals and 23 points, while Scholz will graduate as one of the most successful keepers in the program's history. He ranks second in goals against average (1.21), fourth in save percentage (.759) and third in shutouts (14).
