RINDGE, N.H. (March 9, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse senior midfielder Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) scored three goals and added an assist as the Ravens outscored Dominican (N.Y.) College 9-1 across the second and third quarters to earn a 14-7 non-conference victory Saturday in the Ravens home opener on Sodexo Field. With the win, the Crimson and Grey stay unblemished at 2-0 while the Chargers short out to 1-3 overall.

Castorf's four-point effort gives him 99 career points and he is only one shy from becoming the seventh member in program history to achieve 100 career points. Sophomore transfer Mike Alibrandi (Holliston, Mass.) matched Castorf with four points of his own (two goals and two assists). Senior attack Matt Brewster (Merrimack, N.H.) recorded his second straight "hat trick" with three goals on the afternoon.

FPU sophomore goalkeeper Justin Lorenzo (Goshen, N.Y.) played 54:59 in the cage and made seven saves allowing only six goals to improve to 2-0 on the young campaign. Senior netminder Brian Schiavi (Dracut, Mass.) came on in relief and posted two saves. Face-off specialist Lawrence Bastianelli-Conlon (Rocky Point, N.Y.) was 17-for-18 (94.4%) in the X to go along with his first career goal and a game-best seven groundballs.

Dominican junior attack Ryan Fischer paced Dominican's offense with a game-high five points, three goals, and two assists. Goalie John Rooney stopped 14 shots in the cage.

For the second straight game, the Ravens had the decisive advantage in the shot column outshooting their counterparts by a 46-to-31 margin. They also scooped up 34 loose balls compared to the Chargers 14.

Dominican broke the early 0-0 score two minutes into the showdown when Nick D'Alessandro fed Marcos Pierce with the shot clock winding down and he dumped in a close right attempt. At the 11:48 mark, Castorf deadlocked the game 1-1 firing home a one-timer on the right side for his fifth goal of the year.

Raven senior attack Luke Tracy (Windham, N.H.) gave his squad their first lead of the game when Castorf passed the ball to his teammate for the left slot goal making it 2-1 FPU with 6:22 left in the quarter. Five minutes passed until Dominican knotted the margin when Lorcan Teahan punched home a marker from the front of the crease to make it a 2-2 game after one.

The Ravens regained the lead seven ticks into the second period. Following a slashing penalty on Dominican's Tyler Maher which carried over into the new quarter, Alibrandi dished the ball to Castorf for the left slot catch and shoot goal to regain the edge to the Ravens 3-2. Castorf's goal spring boarded three straight Raven scores capped off by a Brewster dodge and run around the crease tally to move ahead 5-2. The Chargers would respond on a James Ross man-advantage goal to bring their deficit to 5-3.

Pierce pulled away with six straight goals to lead 11-3 after the third quarter. Castorf capped off his first half "hat trick" performance cashing in a sophomore midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, Maine) pass as the Ravens went into the intermission with a 6-3 lead. Brewster and Dorr chipped in impressive markers in the third quarter. Brewster flung in a sideways falling down attempt to improve the Ravens lead to 7-3. Dorr followed with a behind the back twirl on the right side just outside the crease when he was facing the Ravens goalie to bring it to an 8-3 game. Alibrandi, senior midfielder Callan Lemay (Wilton, N.Y.), and Brewster ended the Raven scoring spurt. Two Ryan Fischer goals assisted by Marcs Pierce dropped the margin to 11-5 to start the fourth quarter until Alibrandi and Bastianelli-Conlon iced the game.

FPU opens up Northeast-10 Conference play next Saturday, March 16th at American International College with game time slated for 5:00 p.m.
