Don Denman Named to NE-10 Men's Lacrosse Second-Team

Robert Meyers named to NE-10 All-Rookie Team

RINDGE, N.H. (May 2, 2014) – Franklin Pierce University goalie Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.) on Friday was named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Lacrosse Second-Team for his impressive performance during the entire 2014 season. In addition to Denman, freshman defender Robert Meyers (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) was named to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.

It marked the fifth-consecutive season the program has earned some form of an all-conference accolade from the league. For Denman, it was his second all-conference recognition in three years, as he was also named to the league’s all-rookie team as a freshman back in 2012.

Denman was once again a brick wall in goal this season, as he posted six wins with a 9.08 goals against average, and a 59.6 save percentage. His 171 stops ranked as the third highest total in the league, marking the third-consecutive season he ranked among the top-five in the conference in saves. Denman’s save percentage was also the third highest mark in the NE-10.

Denman made double-digit saves in 11 of 13 games, including seven contests with 13 or more. He stopped a season-high 20 in the finale on April 25 versus Pace. He made 15 saves in an 11-5 win over Post on March 11, and also turned in an impressive 17 stops in a 9-8 overtime win at Saint Michael’s on April 16, as it marked the first win ever for the program over the Purple Knights.

Denman’s NE-10 second-team honor is the perfect capper to the 2014 season, as he bookended the campaign with a preseason accolade from NEILA by being named to its Preseason All-Division II First-Team in late February.

Meyers was placed on the all-rookie team after he was part of a defensive unit which was one of the most consistent in the league in 2014. He helped bolster a backend that gave up the fourth fewest goals in the league (116), while also ranking fifth in lowest goals against average (8.90). The Ravens also made 175 total saves this year, which was the third best mark in the NE-10.

He saw action in 11 games with two starts, while scooping up 10 groundballs and causing four turnovers.
