Southern New Hampshire Gets By Franklin Pierce,13-7

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 22, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-7 decision to intra-state rival, Southern New Hampshire University, in Northeast-10 men's lacrosse action this afternoon. The win snaps Southern New Hampshire's six-game losing streak.

The Penmen were led by senior Kyle Hintlan who tallied four goals and three assists in the win. Sophomore Brian Flaherty chipped in two goals and four assists for six total points.

Senior Andrew McEntee (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) led the Ravens with his first hat trick of the season, while sophomore Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass.) and junior Derek Mandatori (Newton, Mass./Newton North) each chipped in a goal and an assist.

The Ravens got on the board first with a goal from Mincolla, his 15th of the season minutes into the quarter. Sophomore Frank Parker (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) helped the Ravens go up by two with his first of the season minutes later.

The Penmen fought back in the second quarter, however, scoring five unanswered markers to take a 5-3 lead heading into the break. The Ravens hung tight with Southern New Hampshire well into the third stanza, but the Penmen netted back-to-back goals to take a 10-5 lead and close out the quarter.

McEntee and junior Dean Patty (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) got the Ravens within three goals late in the fourth, but the Penmen tacked on two shorthanded markers in a span of 22 seconds with under four minutes to play to seal the win.

SeniorAndy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) made 28 saves in 60 minutes in net for the Ravens. Freshman Davis Shields totaled eight shots in net for the win.

Franklin Pierce (0-8, 0-7 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday, when it hosts American International College in a Northeast-10 Conference game at 4 p.m. Southern New Hampshire (2-7, 1-6 NE-10) next travels to Merrimack College on Thursday for a Conference matchup.
