No. 3 Pace Stomps Franklin Pierce, 27-4

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. (April 19, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered a 27-4 setback at the hands of No-3 ranked Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action this afternoon.

Freshman Jeremy Jablonski led the Setters with five goals. Classmate Colin Achenbach added a pair of goals and five assists for a match-high seven points, while freshman Mike Dimler and senior Joe Dlabola both added four goals and an assist in the win.

Franklin Pierce sophomore Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Drummer Acad.) extended his scoring streak to seven games with his second hat trick of the season. Senior Andrew McEntee (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) chipped in a goal for the Ravens.

The Setters went on the attack early and netted seven goals in just under five minutes to run away with the game. The Ravens were held scoreless in the first until Mincola netted his 12th of the season with 30 seconds to go in the quarter. By the end of the first, however, the Setters buried the Ravens with 12 goals.

Things didn't improve for the Ravens in the second quarter, as the Setters recorded ten unanswered tallies by nine different players to hold a 22-1 advantage heading into intermission.

Mincola netted the Ravens lone goal of the third and added a marker in the fourth along with McEntee to make the final, Pace 27, Franklin Pierce 4.

Senior goalkeeper Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) was outstanding despite the loss. Cote faced 72 shots on goal and made a season-best 30 saves in 60 minutes of work. Pace goalkeeper, Larry Petriccione made no saves in 30 minutes of work before giving way to Joe Cassano (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), who totaled one save in 15 minutes and Jason Strippoli who made no saves in the remainder of the match.

Franklin Pierce (0-7, 0-6 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Southern New Hampshire University for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 3:30 p.m.
