Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Post, 5-1

SHELTON, Conn. (January 29, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team was defeated on the road on Tuesday night, 5-1, in a non-conference contest at Post. Sophomore forward Jake Raleigh scored a goal and added two assists for a three-point night to lead Post at Sports Center of Connecticut. Senior forward Nate Indelicato (Pembroke, Mass.) notched the lone goal for the Ravens.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 9-11-1, while Post improves to 6-13-0.

The two teams traded goals in the first period on Tuesday. Junior defenseman Lucas Smith opened the scoring for Post at the 16:54 mark, with his first goal of the season, off of an assist from Raleigh. Indelicato had the answer just 43 seconds later, at 17:37, as he potted his eighth goal of the campaign, off of assists from junior forward Alex Lester (Methuen, Mass.) and senior defenseman Jack Williams (Suffield, Conn.).

From there though, it was all Post, which put together a 38-28 advantage in shots on goal in the contest. The Eagles struck twice in the second period to take a lead they would never relinquish. At 11:02, it was the second goal of the year for senior forward Christopher Harris, who was assisted by sophomore defenseman Nolan Arbuckle and freshman defenseman Harrison Sheldon. Just over four minutes later, at 15:09, junior forward Noah Wild made it 3-1 with his sixth of the season, while freshman defenseman Michael Karas provided the lone assist.

The Eagles added a pair of insurance tallies in the third period to create the 5-1 final. At 4:02, Raleigh picked up his second assist of the game, as he teamed with freshman forward John Krapian to set up the first collegiate goal for freshman forward Bill Purdue. Finally, Raleigh capped his three-point night with his sixth goal of the year, a power-play marker at 13:13, off of assists from Wild and Krapian.

Freshman goaltender Kyle Martin (Westford, Mass.) started and finished with 28 saves against 33 shots over 54:28 while suffering the loss (4-2-0) in the crease for Franklin Pierce. Fellow freshman Adam Carman (Vestal, N.Y.) took over for the final 5:32 and stopped all five shots he faced. At the other end of the ice, sophomore Brandon Brown (3-10-0) collected 27 saves against 28 shots to pick up the win for Post.
