Sean Woodring

Sean Woodring has been named Northeast-10 Conference Co-Freshman of the Year.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 8, 2008) - Franklin Pierce University freshman Sean Woodring (Rogue River, Ore./Eugene Generals) became the first Raven to earn a major men's ice hockey award from the Northeast-10 Conference, as the center was named the conference's 2007-08 Co-Freshman of the Year on Saturday afternoon.

Senior captains Joe Fields (Towamencin, Pa./Green Mountain Glades) and Pete Wilson (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) also were honored by the NE-10 with spots on the All-Conference second team, marking the first time that the Ravens have garnered multiple All-NE-10 selections.

Prior to Saturday's announcement, the only Raven player to earn a spot on the Northeast-10 All-Conference team was goaltender Dennis Millman '06, who was named to the conference's second team in 2004-05.

Woodring, who shares the Rookie of the Year award with Stonehill College goaltender Mike Manna (Framingham, Mass./Xavarian), recently completed a stellar first season with Franklin Pierce, setting a new freshman scoring record at the school with eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points. Centering the team's top line, the Rogue River, Ore., native led the Northeast-10 in freshman scoring during the regular season, and he was honored as the conference Freshman of the Week on two occasions in 2007-08. He reached a season-high three points on three occasions, including scoring once and chipping in two helpers in wins over Worcester State College (Nov. 12) and Becker College (Jan. 4).

Fields earns his first career All-Conference selection at forward after a stellar senior season. The right wing was the Ravens' primary offensive catalyst this year, leading the team with 15 goals and adding 16 assists for a team-high 31 points. His goal and point totals rank first all-time for a single season at Franklin Pierce, while he finished the regular season second in the conference in goals, third in points and tied for fourth in assists.

Joe Fields

Joe Fields was one of two Ravens named Second Team All-Northeast-10 Conference.

Fields broke every major offensive record in his four years at Franklin Pierce, leaving as the school's all-time leader in goals (37), assists (49), points (86) and hat tricks (three). After breaking the school's single-season records for goals and points in 2007-08, the senior also holds all three major single-season marks, as he recorded a single-season-best 19 assists during the 2006-07 campaign. This week, Fields also signed a professional contact with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Wilson also is named an All-Conference pick for the first time after a career season on the Raven blue line. The defenseman scored eight goals and added 14 assists for 22 points in his senior year, ranking second among conference blueliners in points during the regular season and surpassing the combined totals for his first three seasons with the squad. Wilson was especially proficient on the power play, as he led all conference skaters with 19 power-play points (7-12-19) and tied Woodring for the team lead with seven man-advantage goals.

In 73 career games wearing the Ravens jersey, Wilson netted 14 goals and chipped in 23 assists for 37 points. He finished his career in top 10 all-time at Franklin Pierce in all three categories, ranking ninth in career assists and tenth in both goals and points. His 14 goals also rank first all-time among defensemen at the school, while his assist and point totals are second best among all Raven blueliners.

Franklin Pierce (6-19-0, 1-4-0 NE-10, 4-12-0 ECAC NE) completed its 2007-08 season with six wins, tied for the most victories in the six-year varsity history of the program.
