Men’s Golf Rallies in Second Round, Records Highest Finish of Fall Slate at Saint Rose

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (October 12, 2019) – Following a fourth-place finish after the conclusion of the first round, the Franklin Pierce University men's golf team responded by climbing two slots on the team leaderboard to second place at the end of the two day Saint Rose Fall Shootout hosted by Northeast-10 Conference opponent the College of Saint Rose.

Pierce shot a 306 (+22) on Friday and tallied the lowest score out of the eight teams Saturday at 286 (+2) to combined for a 592 (+24). The ravens 20 stroke decrease was a tournament-high, but it still resulted in them coming up short to leader Le Moyne College (587, +19). The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), who was tied with Le Moyne slid to third place, five strokes behind by the Ravens 597 (+29).

Three Ravens were top-10 golfers on the weekend. Senior Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.)  leapfrogged 18 slots on the individual leaderboard into the top-five to place fourth (145, +3) after firing a second-round and career-low 68 (-3). Classmate Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) climbed a team-high 20 spots in the rankings after dropping nine strokes off his round one score (79, +8) to tie for ninth at 149 (+7). Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) wrapped up top-10 Raven showings shooting a consistent 74 (+3) each days.

Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) subtracted five off his scorecard to contribute a 153 (+11) while Nate Patterson (Conway, Mass.) tallied a 155 (+13) as well.

The men's squad hits the road Monday for the two-day Post Eagles Invitational at the Watertown Golf Club in Connecticut.
