Men’s Golf Stands in Seventh, Finishes Two Rounds at Penmen Invite
CANTERBURY, N.H. (September 23, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team ranks seventh after the first day of the Penmen Fall Invitational hosted by Canterbury Woods Country Club.
The crimson and gray completed the first round at 290 (+2) which put them in second place behind Laval University at 289 (+1), however, the Ravens slid five slots to seventh after shooting a 305 (+17) on their second go around through the course to finish at 595 (+19). Laval never trailed Monday firing a 573 (-3). Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College totaled a 585 (+9) and Post University was 10 over par (586).
Junior Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) paced the Ravens ranking 13th in the field of golfers at 146 (+2). He turned in the best round of the day for the Ravens in the opening 18 holes with a three-under-par 69 showing. Teammate Nate Patterson (Conway, Mass.) finished his 36 holes within the top-20 ranking 19th at 147 (+3). Patterson along with Plis excelled in second turn sending in an even scorecard.
Senior Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) (150, +6), senior Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) (153, +9) and senior Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) (158, +14) chipped in for Pierce as well. Foster was the most improved golfer on the day knocking off six strokes from his first-round scorecard.
The Ravens return to the links tomorrow for the third and final round.
