GREENSBURG, Pa. (May 11, 2019) The no. 1 regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's golf team finished the third and final round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regionals in a tie for sixth place early Saturday evening in Greensburg, Pa.

The regional was hosted by the California University of Pennsylvania at the Totteridge Golf Club, a par 72, 7,154-yard course. Pierce was in contention all three days posting round scores of 298 (+10) Thursday, 308 (+20), Friday and a 309 (+21) Saturday en route to a 915 (+51) 54 hole performance. After their successful first round, FPU was tied for second place until they fell back to fourth yesterday before sharing sixth with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The sixth-place finish is the second highest during regional play in program history with last year's runner-up marking the best.

Two of the top three teams that advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship were from the Northeast-10 Conference. Regional Champion Southern New Hampshire University racked up an 899 (+35) total and a two-stroke victory over runner-up Bentley University. Wilmington (Del.) University took the final slot at 903 (+39) over fourth place Gannon University (910, +46).

The Ravens were led by sophomore Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) from the no. 3 spot in the five-golfer lineup. Plis tied for sixth place with three other golfers as he produced a 222 (+6) three-round total including a low 72 (E) first round. He paced the field of golfers in pars racking up a tournament-high 41 of them.

Junior transfer Nathan Patterson (Conway, Mass.) was the only other Raven within the top-20 individually as he tied for 17th at 227 (+11). Patterson fired the Ravens low round of the regional on Monday with a one below-par showing (71) and he tallied 11 birdies, the fourth most in the field.

Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) was a consistent presence at the no. 2 slot putting home a 230 (+14) with round scores of 76 (+4), 77 (+5) and 77 (+5). Myers' classmates Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) and Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) shot 240 (+24) and 241 (+25) respectively.
