Men’s and Women’s Golf Both Atop Team Leaderboards at Assumption

SUTTON, Mass. (April 13, 2019) The no. 2 regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's golf team and the women's golf program both are in first place following the completion of the first round at the Assumption College Invitational hosted by the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Mass.

The Raven men combined total was 302 (+14) which puts them in first ahead of Post by nine strokes (311, +23) for second place. The host Greyhounds round out the top-three at 321 (+33).

On the women's side, Pierce shot a 321 (+33) and are a solid 18 strokes in front of conference opponent and second place team the College of Saint Rose (339, +51). Le Moyne College caps the top-three programs at 343 (+55).

 

Men's Golf

Junior transfer Nathan Patterson (Conway, Mass.) completed his first round shooting a two-under par (70) en route to being the clubhouse leader. Patterson led the field of athletes in birdies (6) and par 4 scoring (3.60, -4). Teammate, junior Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) is currently tied for fourth place with a 76 (+4) scorecard. Myers knocked home a team-leading 10 pars on the afternoon. Junior Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) ended the Raven top-10 performances tallying a 77 (+5) good enough for a share of seventh place.

Juniors Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) and Anthony Vincequere (Millbury, Mass.) also contributed to the scoring chipping in 79 (+7) and 83 (+11) scores respectively.

 

Women's Golf

Junior team captain Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) paced the Ravens rifling a field-best 77 (+5) tying her with Catherine French of Assumption. Yamamoto is deadlocked with teammates Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) and Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.) for the lead in birdies (3) while Yamamoto ranks first in par 5 scoring (4.50, -2).

Two other Ravens capped off the top three as Songcuan and Daley are deadlocked in third place at an 80 (+8). Junior Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) completed the round at 84 (+11) which ties her for seventh on the individual leaderboard. Sydney Caron (Gorham, Maine) fired a 91 (+19) as well.

Both golf programs hit the links tomorrow for the final round of competition.
