Franklin Pierce Finishes 11th at NE-10 Championship

Ravens post ninth-best score as day two of championship shortened to nine holes

MARCELLUS, N.Y. (September 25, 2006) - Franklin Pierce finished in 11th place at the 2006 Northeast-10 Conference men's golf championship, hosted by Le Moyne College, at the par-72 Links at Sunset Ridge this weekend.

Franklin Pierce, which registered a two-day team score of 493, posted the ninth-best team score on day two (159) as the second round was shortened to nine holes due to rain. Bentley College took home its second NE-10 title thanks to its low team round of 146 on Sunday for a two-day score of 454 to edge host Le Moyne on the tiebreaker.        

Le Moyne's Dan McCarthy earned medallist honors at the event with a two-day score of four-under-par 104. Southern New Hampshire University's Pat Pelletier was second at even-par 108.

Junior Kevin Rossi (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) and sophomore Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue) led Franklin Pierce with two-day scores of 123 and finished 39th overall. Rossi turned in the Ravens second-best nine-hole score on Sunday with a two-over par 38.

Junior Craig Jasinski (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) led Franklin Pierce on Sunday with an even-par 36 over the nine holes and completed the two days with a score of 127 (47th overall). Sophomore Steve Balchunas (Brockton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy) also registered a 127 over the two days.

Franklin Pierce heads right back to upstate New York this weekend for the ECAC Division II Championship, hosted by Le Moyne at Drumlins Country Club, Sunday and Monday.
