Green Mountain's Bjorklund earns medalist honors with round of 83
JAFFREY, N.H. (October 17, 2001) - Franklin Pierce captured its own Franklin Pierce Invitational II, with a team score of 346, under blustery-cold conditions at The Shattuck Golf Course this afternoon.
Green Mountain College's Carl-Johan Bjorklund claimed medalist honors as he posted a round of 83 to lead the field of 19 golfers from four colleges.
The Ravens outpaced Green Mountain (349) and Bentley College (376) for the team title. Elms College failed to qualify as a team with only three players turning in cards.
Following Bjorklund, three golfers finished just one stroke off medalist pace, including Franklin Pierce sophomores Aaron Nackoul (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) and Paul Izzi (Wilton, Conn./Wilton). Bentley's Brian Schacher also posted a round of 84.
The Franklin Pierce golf team returns to the links on Sunday and Monday when they participate in the New England Intercollegiate Championships at The Captains Course in Brewster, Mass.
