Fadojutimi Drops 36 in Men’s Basketball 100-94 Loss at #14 Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 23, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball senior guard Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) scored a career-high 36 points, but it was all for not as a circus buzzer-beater conversion tied the game in regulation as no. 14 nationally-ranked and Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Anselm College earned a 100-94 overtime win over the Ravens at the Stoutenburgh Gym. With the win, the Hawks soar to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league play while the Ravens even up their mark at 2-2 and lose their first conference duel.

Fadojutimi, fresh off his 1,000th career point last week at Goldey-Beacom, bettered his previous personal-best of 33 points set last year at Saint Michael's on November 20, 2018. He also contributed in other areas snaring six rebounds, handing out three assists, coming up with three steals and blocking two shots.

The Ravens were also represented with strong performances by sophomore guard Isaiah Moore (Temple Hills, Md.) who scored 14 points of his own with five rebounds and two assists. Freshman Antonio Chandler (Piscataway, N.J.) played his most minutes off the bench this season (12) as he scored a career-high and game-best 10 points off the pine on a perfect 5-of-5 field goal efficiency.

The contest featured 14 lead changes throughout the battle and the hosts were behind by four points, 80-76 with 15 seconds left. Saint Anselm tied the game with no time remaining on a crazy buzzer-beater three-pointer from Chris Paul (26 points) with a Raven defender's hand in his face to send the contest into the extra period. In overtime, the Hawks scored 11 of the overtime quarter's first 17 points and built a two-possession lead and never looked back.

The Hawks held a two-point 32-30 edge with 4:35 left in the first half of play. The Ravens responded with a 16-5 run to grow to a nine-point, 46-37 advantage a minute and a half into the second half off a Moore lay-in. A Tyler Arbuckle three-ball cut the Raven lead down to two, 53-51 at the 13:11 mark in the second. Chris Paul regained the margin to his team's side knocking down a jumper off a Joey Belli theft to put his squad back ahead 59-58. Pierce eventually moved back in front before the buzzer-beater sent the game to overtime.

The Ravens outshot the Hawks 45.8%-to-43.9% in the duel, but the Hawks outrebounded the Ravens 51-to-42 and were more efficient at the line 91.3%-to-64.5%.

FPU is back in action this Tuesday, November 26th as they welcome Assumption College to the Fieldhouse for the Ravens home opener with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
