Pair of Men's Basketball Standouts Earn Post-Season Awards

Jean-Guillaume moves on for All-America consideration; Cooper earns all-regional honors after two stellar performances in NCAA Tournament

RINDGE, N.H. (March 15, 2012) -- A pair of Franklin Pierce University men's basketball standouts, junior guard Eric Jean-Guillaume (Stamford, Conn.) and sophomore forward Ellis Cooper (Northampton, Mass.), were recently honored with multiple post-season honors. The awards come on the heels of one of the finest seasons in program history in 2011-12.

Jean-Guillaume was recently named to the 2012 Daktronics All-East Region First-Team, and will now move on for consideration for the organization's All-America squad. The 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year averaged 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, while logging double-figures in scoring in 23 games, including seven contests of at least 20 points. He dished at least four assists in 10 games and logged 13 contests with one turnover or less. Jean-Guillaume is seeking to become the fifth All-American in program history and the first since Donald Johnson in 2001.

Cooper picked up a pair of honors, including being named to the Daktronics All-East Second-Team and being placed on the 2012 NCAA Division II East Regional All-Tournament Team for a pair of outstanding performances in last weekend's regional. Cooper averaged 15.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game during the season, including topping double-figures in scoring in 22 games. He was placed on the NCAA all-regional team after he averaged 17.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in pair of post-season contests. Cooper led Franklin Pierce with 13 points in a 59-58 win over Philadelphia in the first round, and followed with an outstanding effort of 22 points and 11 rebounds in a tough 69-60 setback to Bloomfield in the second round.

Jean-Guillaume and Cooper teamed up with senior forward Adedamola Abu (Mattapan, Mass.) as the trio of captains led Franklin Pierce to a tremendous season. The Ravens claimed the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship, produced a 22-8 record (first 20-win season in 16 years and 12th overall), the No. 1 ranking in the NCAA East Region Poll and a No. 24 national ranking at one point during the season.
