BOXSCORE

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (November 19, 2010) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team opened play in the Molloy Tournament on Friday night with an 86-71 victory over Saint Leo at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The Ravens improved to 2-1 overall and advanced to the tournament's championship game, which will be held Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The Ravens will face the winner of the Molloy-Adelphi game, which was played later in the evening on Friday.

Senior guard Kinard Dozier (Dedham, Mass.) dropped in a game-high 24 points, while sophomore backcourt-mate Eric Jean-Guillaume (Stamford, Conn.) added 20. Freshman guard Andre Blackwood (Paterson, N.J.) came off the bench to chip in with 11 points.

For Dozier and Jean-Guillaume, it was their second 20-plus point performance in the first three games of the season. Dozier scored 26 points in the season-opening win at Goldey-Beacom, while Jean-Guillaume pumped in 24. For Blackwood, it marked the third time in three games this season he has come off the bench to score in double-figures.

The Ravens also collected 37 rebounds in the contest, including getting eight from junior forward Adedamola Abu (Mattapan, Mass.) and seven from sophomore guard Nigel Van Oostrum (Sheffield, England). Freshman center Adrianos Vourliotakis Perolikaris (Anolargos, Athens) had six boards in a reserve role.

Jeremy Jackson paced Saint Leo with 17 points, while Matt Kendrick collected a game-best 10 rebounds.

Saint Leo opened the game on a 7-0 run, but the Ravens quickly settled and out-scored the opposition, 13-5, over a four-minute span to take a 13-12 advantage. Jean-Guillaume sparked the surge with the first 11 points, including hitting a pair of three-pointers, and freshman guard Paul Dick (Belfast, Ireland) capped it with a layup.

The game went back and forth as the lead changed hands 10 times over the final 13 minutes of the half. Franklin Pierce scored eight of the stanza's final nine points to build a 35-30 lead heading into the locker room at halftime. Jean-Guillaume hit a triple during the surge, while Blackwood converted a pair of free throws and freshman forward Ellis Cooper (Springfield, Mass.) added a layup.

Franklin Pierce continued its impressive offensive play in the opening stages of the second half and a Van Oostrum trey with 17 minutes remaining lifted the Ravens to a 45-35 lead -- their first double-digit advantage of the contest.

Saint Leo tried to slowly chip away at the deficit and did get to within three at 54-51 with a little more than nine minutes remaining. However, Franklin Pierce out-scored Saint Leo, 17-7, over the next six minutes to build a comfortable 71-58 advantage with 3:25 to go. Eight different Ravens scored during the run, which ultimately put the game out of reach and lifted Franklin Pierce to victory.

The Ravens shot 44 percent (28-of-63) from the field, while limiting Saint Leo to just 40-percent (28-of-69) from the floor. Franklin Pierce also forced Saint Leo into 19 turnovers.
