Men's Basketball Closes Out Home Schedule with 74-59 Loss to Bentley

Manchester and Dozier honored on Senior Day festivities

BOXSCORE

RINDGE, N.H. (February 19, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team closed out its 2010-11 home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 74-59 setback to Bentley at The Fieldhouse in Rindge. The Ravens fell to 6-20 overall and 4-17 in the Northeast-10, while the Falcons improved to 19-6 and 17-4 in league play.

In his final game at The Fieldhouse, senior guard Jeff Manchester (Gorham, Maine) pumped in a team-high 16 points for the Ravens, including knocking down 4-of-5 shots from behind the arc. Freshman forward Adrianos Vourliotakis-Perdikaris (Cholargos, Athens) narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, and junior guard Dayshawn Long (New York, N.Y.) came off the bench to toss in eight points, while handing out four assists.

Brian Tracey led a trio of Bentley players scoring in double-figures, as he tossed in 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the floor. Mike Quinn added 16 points, and in the process went over 1,000 points for his career. Dan O'Keefe was Bentley's other double-digit scorer with 10 points off the bench.

The Falcons shot 43 percent (28-of-65) from the field, while holding Franklin Pierce to just 39 percent shooting (24-of-61). Bentley also held a 44-36 advantage on the boards.

With the exception of two brief ties in the opening minutes of the game, Bentley never trailed at any point in the game and built a 43-22 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

The Falcons continued their hot shooting in the opening stages of the second half and eventually went up by 31 at 59-28 with 13:59 to go following a triple from Tracey.

The Ravens tried to battle back throughout the remaining minutes of the game and did pull to within 15 at 70-55 with 1:52 remaining following back-to-back three-pointers from Manchester. However, that was as close as Franklin Pierce would get as Bentley hung on for the victory.

Prior to the game, Manchester and classmate Kinard Dozier (Dedham, Mass.) were honored during Senior Day festivities as the pair's career accomplishments were highlighted for the large crowd on hand. Both players are 1,000-point scorers in their careers, including Dozier who will enter Wednesday's regular season finale needing just eight points to move into the top-10 in program history for career scoring. He currently stands at 1,432 points. Dozier also ranks among the top-11 in school history in career rebounding, steals and assists. Manchester topped the scoring milestone in last Saturday's 85-67 win over Saint Anselm, thus becoming the 28th player in program history to do so.

Franklin Pierce closes out its season Wednesday night when the Ravens travel to face UMass-Lowell at 7:30 p.m.
