BOXSCORE

RINDGE, N.H. (January 11, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team used a 12-4 run over the final five minutes of the game to pull off a come-from-behind 50-46 win over New Haven on Tuesday night at The Fieldhouse in Rindge. The Ravens improved to 5-10 overall and 3-7 in the Northeast-10, while the Chargers dipped to 3-10 and 2-8 in league play.

Senior guard Kinard Dozier (Dedham, Mass.) logged his second-straight double-double at home with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Eight (8) of his 19 points came during Franklin Pierce's final, furious rally to earn the victory.

The Ravens found themselves trailing 42-38 late in the game, but freshman guard Andre Blackwood (Paterson, N.J.) dropped in a three-pointer to spark the rally and bring Franklin Pierce to within a point. Dozier then stepped up on the defensive end and made a big steal while driving back down the court before being fouled. He made both free throws to put the Ravens on top 43-42.

Robert Jamerson answered at the other end of the court with a layup to give the Chargers a brief 44-43 lead. But that lead was short-lived as Dozier hit a driving layup on the next possession to give Franklin Pierce a one-point advantage.

New Haven couldn't convert a basket at the other end, and following a rebound, Dozier was fouled and hit two more foul shots to put Franklin Pierce up 47-44 with 2:06 left.

After an Eric Jean-Guillaume (Stamford, Conn.) free throw put the Ravens up 48-44, Sean Harris hit two foul shots of his own on the next series to bring the Chargers back within two points.

Dozier hit a pair of foul shots with :12 left to put the Ravens back up by four at 50-46. New Haven tried to claw back into it, but Franklin Pierce's senior guard pulled down one final rebound off a missed shot to end the threat and lift his team to victory.

Blackwood's three-pointer was his only basket of the game, while Jean-Guillaume added nine points in the victory. He also grabbed four rebounds and swiped three steals.

New Haven was led in scoring by Jeremy Williams, who had 13 points. His trey with a little more than five minutes remaining in the game gave the Chargers the 42-38 advantage. Jamerson was UNH's other double-digit scorer with 10 points, and he also logged a double-double by pulling down 10 rebounds.

Franklin Pierce out-rebounded New Haven by a count of 41-30, including getting a career-high 14 boards from freshman forward Ellis Cooper (Northampton, Mass.).

Both teams struggled shooting the ball in the first half and New Haven held a 21-18 lead at halftime.

The cold shooting continued early in the second half. However, both teams started to knock down a couple of baskets midway through the frame as it set the tone for the final frantic minutes of the game. After shooting just 19 percent from the floor in the first half, Franklin Pierce responded by converting 42 percent of its shots in the second half. Dozier scored 15 of his 19 points in the second 20 minutes, while Jean-Guillaume tossed in six of his nine during the frame.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Saturday when the Ravens travel to Southern Connecticut State to face the Owls at 3:30 p.m.
