MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 13, 2010) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon following a tough 89-62 loss to Saint Anselm in Manchester. The Ravens dipped to 11-13 overall and 6-13 in Northeast-10 competition, while the Hawks improved to 16-8 and 12-7 in league play.

The big news on the afternoon for Franklin Pierce was that junior guard Kinard Dozier (Dedham, Mass.) reach and impressive career milestone as he scored his 1,000th-career point in the first half. Dozier had nine points in the game, including getting three of those on his triple at the 10:37 mark of the first half which not only knotted the game at 23, but gave him the career milestone. Dozier scored 300 points during his freshman season of 2007-08 as he was named to the league's All-Rookie team, and followed with 340 points as a sophomore last season.

Senior forward Terrell Ray (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Ravens with 16 points and tallied a double-double with 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Eric Jean-Guillaume (Stamford, Conn.) followed with 12 points and five boards.

Saint Anselm's Thomas Baudinet led all scorers with 31 points. Greg Vetrano and Pat Luptowski followed with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Franklin Pierce came out strong shooting the ball in the first half and used triples from Marcus Wellman (Monroe, Conn.) (two treys), Jean-Guillaume and Dozier to open up a 16-8 lead a little more than four minutes into the contest.

Saint Anselm responded by scoring the game's next 10 points to grab an 18-16 lead with 14:13 left in the first half. Baudinet started the run with a trey and Vetrano capped it with a three-pointer of his own.

The rest of the first half remained close as it featured four ties and neither team really taking a firm upperhand. Saint Anselm was able to lay in a couple of baskets late to build a 43-36 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was much the same as the first half. The Ravens came out aggressive in the opening minutes and were able to trim their deficit down to one at 52-51 with 13:27 remaining in the game. Ray keyed the opening surge with eight points, while Dozier and Jean-Guillaume added to it with a basket each.

However, the Hawks had the opportunity to answer and they did so by scoring 13 of the next 18 points to open up a 65-56 lead with 8:17 left. Luptowski and Baudinet started the run with back-to-back threes, and Baudinet capped it with another trey.

Saint Anselm extended its lead out to double-digits two minutes later and cruised on the rest of the way to earn the win.

The Ravens return to action Wednesday night when they play host to Merrimack at 7:30 p.m. in The Fieldhouse in Rindge. Fans who cannot attend the game can follow it online via audio, video and/or live stats through the team's page at athletics.franklinpierce.edu(.)
