Dozier Earns NE-10 All-Rookie Team Honors

Dedham, Mass., native fourth Franklin Pierce freshman in five years to earn honor

RINDGE, N.H. (March 6, 2008) - Franklin Pierce University freshman guard Kinard Dozier (Dedham, Mass./The Winchendon School) has earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball All-Rookie team in a vote of the Conference's 15 head coaches. The announcement was made tonight in conjunction with the semifinal round of the 2008 Northeast-10 Men's Basketball Championships, presented by Spaulding.

Dozier is the fourth Franklin Pierce freshman to collect All-Rookie team accolades over the last five years. He joins former Ravens Darryl Minnifield (2003-04) and Mitchell Johnson (2004-05) and teammate Timothy Munch (Blauvelt, N.Y./Storm King Prep) (2005-06) as NE-10 All-Rookie team selections.

Dozier, who earned NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors twice this season - including this past Monday, ranked second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game, to go with 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals in a team-high 31.2 minutes over 27 games (21 starts) in his freshman season. He shot 36.6-percent (37-101) from three-point range and converted at team-best 72.8% (83-114) of his free-throws for the year.

Dozier led the Ravens in scoring eight times and rebounding on five occasions. He reached double-figures in scoring 13 times, netting 20-plus points twice. In Conference play, Dozier averaged 12.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals (5th NE-10) per game.

Dozier capped his rookie season by notching his first collegiate double-double in Franklin Pierce's season-ending 77-58 win at American International College, posting season-high totals of 26 points and ten rebounds to go with four assists and two steals.

Franklin Pierce posted a 10-17 overall record this season, including a 6-16 clip in the Northeast-10. The Ravens captured the ECAC/Commerce Bank Holiday Classic in December.
