Field Hockey: Ravens Fall Short Against Adelphi 5-2

RINDGE, N.H. (10/05/24) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens field hockey team couldn't contain the Adelphi Panthers on Saturday afternoon, losing 5-2 in Northeast-10 conference play. Despite the loss, it was a very special day at Sodexo Field. The Ravens raised money for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and their initiative REACH. The game also celebrated Umpire Appreciation Week as both teams showed their appreciation for the umpire's dedication to the game of field hockey.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Panthers started off the first half strong, using goals from Sydney Rossacci and Amanda Lee to give them the 2-0 lead into the halftime break. Then, Amanda Lee added her 2nd goal of the game in the 3rd quarter to put the Panthers up 3-0.  

  • The Ravens finally broke through in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to 3-1. Junior forward Sage Clukey (Winslow, Maine) dished a pass to sophomore forward Aria Caputo (Gloucester, Mass.) who flew down the right wing and zipped a shot into the goal.  

  • Amanda Lee recorded a hattrick in the 4th quarter to give the Panthers the 4-1 lead. The Ravens then responded with their 2nd goal of the game to make it 4-2 Panthers. Senior midfielder Megan Raymond (Oxford, Mass.) fed a pass to senior midfielder Rebecca Phillips (West Amwell, N.J.) who buried a shot from the left side.  

  • Amanda Lee capped off her amazing performance with her 4th goal of the game to seal the 5-2 road victory for the Panthers. 

 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Panthers outshot the Ravens 18-9. 

  • Senior Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and sophomore Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands) split time in net. Araneo suffered the loss but had a solid performance with 7 saves. Noorlag recorded 2 saves.  

  • The Ravens took 8 penalty corners, compared to 7 from the Panthers. 

 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens travel to Molloy University on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. Face-off is at 3 p.m.
