GILBERT, Ariz. (March 26, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has had 10 student-athletes named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Academic Squad, as announced earlier this spring by the NFHCA. Furthermore, the team earned the NFHCA’s National Academic Team Award.

The following Ravens earned National Academic Squad accolades: junior goalkeeper Olivia Barnes (Greenwich, N.Y.), senior midfielder Allison Collins (Sandown, N.H.), senior forward Madison Gagnon (Milford, N.H.), freshman forward Alicia Hottleman (Mansfield, Mass.), sophomore midfielder Annabel Lee (North Kingstown, R.I.), senior forward Emma McGonagle (Rowley, Mass.), freshman midfielder Demi Sahuleka (Dieren, Netherlands), senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.), junior back Nicole Thibeault (Turners Falls, Mass.) and freshman forward Meghan Winn (Newburyport, Mass.).

To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester.

The Ravens earned the National Academic Team Award -- which requires a team GPA of 3.0 or higher -- for the 14th time overall, and the fifth year in a row.

Franklin Pierce has now had 168 selections to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, all since 2000, an average of 8.4 student-athletes per season over the last 20 years. McGonagle became the 22nd Franklin Pierce player to be a four-year National Academic Squad honoree. Meanwhile, Barnes, Collins, Gagnon, Strassburg and Thibeault each earned their third career selection, while Lee was honored for the second time in as many years. Hottleman, Sahuleka and Winn were all first-time honorees for the Ravens, who have now had 73 different players honored under the National Academic Squad program.
