Field Hockey Has 10 Named to NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad

GILBERT, Ariz. (March 26, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has had 10 student-athletes named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Academic Squad, as announced earlier this spring by the NFHCA. Furthermore, the team earned the NFHCA’s National Academic Team Award.

Six Ravens Earn Spots on NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams

MANSFIELD, Mass. (February 4, 2020) – Franklin Pierce University has had six student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Monday by the Conference office. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) and sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) of the men’s cross country team, senior midfielder Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) and junior forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) of the men’s soccer team, senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) of the field hockey team, and senior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil), were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 89 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Brittany Fleck Coaches Two Teams at Once

Coaching at the NCAA level is a tough job. Hours of film, practice prep, game prep, travel, and so much more to ensure your team is not only performing well, but also happy. While some coaches find one team to be enough, Brittany Fleck took on a nearly impossible job: coach two teams at one time. The Franklin Pierce University field hockey assistant coach volunteered to help out with the volleyball team as well, when a position opened up on the coaching staff this fall.

Field Hockey has Four Bring Home NE10 Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. (November 6, 2019) – For just the fourth time in program, the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has had three players collect All-Northeast-10 Conference honors in the same season. It was part of an NE10 postseason awards docket which saw four Ravens honored overall, as announced on Wednesday afternoon by the league office. Sophomore back Julianne Sacco (Southborough, Mass.), senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore forward Feline van Doorn (Barendrecht, Netherlands) were all selected to the All-NE10 Third Team, while freshman Meghan Winn (Newburyport, Mass.) landed on the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

PREVIEW: Field Hockey Returns to Postseason for NE10 First Round Tilt at No. 4 Saint Anselm

RINDGE, N.H. (November 5, 2019) – For the first time since 2011, the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team returns to the postseason on Tuesday evening, as they head across Route 101 to Manchester, N.H., for the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The eighth-seeded Ravens will meet top seed and No. 4 nationally ranked Saint Anselm at 6 p.m. at Grappone Stadium.

Ravens Field Hockey Season Comes to an End With 2-0 Loss to #3 Saint Anselm

The no. 8 seeded Franklin Pierce University field hockey team's 2019 season came to an end with a 2-0 shutout loss to the no. 1 seed and no. 3 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College Hawks Tuesday evening in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals at Grappone Stadium. With the win, the Hawks sky to 17-2 overall while the Ravens campaign ends at 8-11.

Field Hockey Drops Regular-Season Finale at No. 9 SNHU, 2-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 2, 2019) -- On Saturday afternoon, the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team took to the road for its final regular-season game of the year. Junior goaltender Olivia Barnes (Greenwich, N.Y.) collected nine saves, but the offense was unable to generate much of anything at the other end, as the Ravens suffered a 2-0 loss on the road against No. 9 nationally ranked Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 29, 2019) – Offense was tough to come by on Tuesday afternoon for the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team in the squad’s home finale. No. 4 nationally ranked Saint Anselm was dominant throughout at Sodexo Field, as the Hawks ran up advantages of 27-1 in shot attempts and 15-0 in shots on goal on the way to a 3-0 win in the Northeast-10 Conference contest.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 26, 2019) – For the first time since 2011, the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team is headed to the postseason, as the Ravens locked up their fifth all-time bid in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship with a 4-2, Senior Day win over Pace on Saturday afternoon. Appropriately, senior forward Madison Gagnon (Milford, N.H.) highlighted the victory, as she tallied her first career hat trick to lead the way for the Ravens at Sodexo Field.

MANSFIELD, Mass. (October 22, 2019) – Senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman forward Christine Jarowicz (Kennebunk, Maine) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team have both collected Northeast-10 Conference awards for the week ending on Oct. 20, as announced on Tuesday by the league office. Strassburg was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, while Jarowicz chalked up Rookie of the Week accolades.

Field Hockey Drops Road Contest at Saint Michael’s, 1-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 22, 2019) -- Offense has been at a premium lately for the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team, which had won each of its last two games by a score of 1-0. On the road on Tuesday afternoon, the Ravens’ offense was shut down, as they were handed a 1-0 loss of their own by the Saint Michael’s Purple Knights in Northeast-10 Conference play at Duffy Field.

1-0 Win over SCSU Makes it Three Straight for Field Hockey

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 18, 2019) – Only three days after the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team finished off Mercy College in overtime, the Ravens picked up their second consecutive 1-0 win on Friday afternoon. This time, the victory came against Southern Connecticut State, and via a goal in the opening frame at Jess Dow Field. Senior forward Madison Gagnon (Milford, N.H.) scored her second goal of the season off of an assist from freshman forward Christine Jarowicz (Kennebunk, Maine) 12:33 into the first quarter.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 15, 2019) -- Regulation would not be enough on Tuesday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team got the job done eventually. Freshman forward Christine Jarowicz (Kennebunk, Maine) knocked home her first career goal 8:13 into overtime at Sodexo Field, as the Ravens picked up a 1-0 victory over visiting American International in Northeast-10 Conference play. Senior back Jessica Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) chalked up her 15th career defensive save along the way, to establish a new program record.

(October 12, 2019) -- After a three-game hiatus, the offense for the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team exploded with three goals in the first quarter, en route to a 5-1 victory over the Mercy College Mavericks on Saturday evening. Sophomore back Julianne Sacco (Southborough, Mass.) led the way for the Ravens with her first career hat trick in the Northeast-10 Conference affair at Sodexo Field.

(October 9, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team took to the road on Wednesday afternoon to try to turn things around after being shutout in the first two games of October. The offensive struggles continued on Long Island though, in a 3-0 loss at No. 7 nationally ranked Adelphi.
