Field Hockey Closes Out Season with 1-0 Loss at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 9, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team wrapped up its 2018 season on the road on Friday afternoon. The Ravens were shutout for the fourth time in their final six games, as they dropped a 1-0 decision to Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference play at Grappone Stadium.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce concludes its campaign at 6-12 (3-10 NE10), while Saint Anselm improves to 13-5 (10-3 NE10).

The game's only goal came just 4:43 into the contest. Off of a penalty corner, junior midfielder Mary Nee teed up a shot from the top of the circle. It was tipped en route by senior forward Maddie Bressler, who tallied her seventh goal of the season.

Saint Anselm posted a 12-10 advantage in shot attempts on the day, as offense was at a premium throughout. The Ravens were held to just four shots on goal, despite earning eight penalty corners.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Barnes (Greenwich, N.Y.) finished with eight saves against nine shots on goal and suffered the loss (6-12) in front of the Franklin Pierce goal. Sophomore Julia Hand (11-5) stopped all four shots on her cage to post her third shutout of the season.
