RINDGE, N.H. (October 23, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team struggled to generate offense on Tuesday afternoon, in a 3-0 loss to Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. The Ravens were held to just six shot attempts, including three shots on goal, while Bentley uncorked 14 shot attempts, including seven on goal. Senior forward Morgan Van Epps scored the game-winning goal and later added an assist for the Falcons.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 6-7 (3-5 NE10), while Bentley improves to 9-6 (5-5 NE10).

The game was halted in just the fifth minute, as lightning rolled into the area. After a 75-minute delay, Bentley struck quickly, as the Falcons opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Van Epps was able to bang home her seventh goal of the season from just outside the left post, after junior forward Christa Knell provided the feed from farther out on the left side of the circle.

Bentley pushed the lead out to 2-0 just 1:48 before halftime, with Van Epps picking up the assist this time. She set up senior forward Rachel Crowley for a shot from eight yards out on the right side, which turned into Crowley's fourth goal of the campaign.

The Falcons added an insurance marker on the other side of the intermission, in the 49th minute. Junior forward Tess Anderson finished off her team-leading 15th goal of the year on a rush into the circle on the right-wing side.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Barnes (Greenwich, N.Y.) finished with three saves against six shots on goal and suffered the loss (6-7) in front of the Franklin Pierce net. Senior back Alicia Lasnik (Glenmont, N.Y.) added a defensive save along the way as well.

At the other end of the field, freshman Kayleigh Vogel (1-0) stopped all three shots she faced to post her first collegiate win and shutout.

The Ravens return to the field on Friday, Oct. 26, when they travel to Merrimack for an NE10 contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Merrimack Stadium in North Andover, Mass.
