RINDGE, N.H. (May 25, 2021) -- Senior catcher Dylan Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and sophomore shortstop Ian Battipaglia (Cheshire, Conn.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team have each earned their first career All-East Region honor, as announced last week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Jones landed on the NCBWA’s All-East Region First Team, while Battipaglia took Second Team accolades. In addition, senior first baseman Jonel Ozuna (New York, N.Y.) was an All-East Region Honorable Mention selection.

Jones adds the All-East Region First Team honor to his Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division Player of the Year and All-NE10 First Team plaudits. He has put together a .405/.462/.714 slash line for a 1.176 OPS over 126 at-bats (51-for-126), with a team-leading 16 doubles, one triple and seven home runs, all while catching every game for the Ravens. He has scored 38 runs, driven in 36 and stolen nine bases without being caught. Jones is third in the NE10 in runs batted in, tied for third in runs scored, fourth in slugging percentage and fifth in batting average.

Battipaglia, the NE10 Northeast Division Rookie Hitter of the Year and an All-NE10 First Team selection, missed some time earlier in the year, but has been red-hot over 22 games since. The sophomore has a .407/.500/.616 slash line and a 1.116 OPS over 86 at-bats (35-for-86), with five doubles and three home runs. He has scored 30 runs and driven in 27.

Ozuna, who was an All-NE10 Second Team pick earlier this spring, leads the NE10 in home runs (11), slugging percentage (.788) and runs batted in (55). He boasts a .337/.377/.788 slash line for a 1.165 OPS over 104 at-bats (35-for-104).

The Ravens are set to open pursuit of their eighth NCAA regional crown on Thursday, as they open play in the NCAA Championship East Regional against Molloy. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Pappas Field.
