Coach continues relationship with national governing body

USA Baseball NTDP information

King RINDGE, N.H. (August 10, 2015) – Quickly becoming a regular fixture with his sport's national governing body, Franklin Pierce University head baseball coach Jayson King will once again work with USA Baseball this summer. King is scheduled to lead the association's 17U National Team Development Program on Aug. 17-21 in Orange, Calif.

This summer marks the first time USA Baseball has held its 17U NTDP outside of North Carolina -- where the association is headquartered -- as King will head to Lutheran High School of Orange County to host the program. The NTDP features skill development, guest speakers and intrasquad games over the course of the week in southern California. USA Baseball utilizes members of the professional and collegiate baseball communities, as well as USA Baseball alumni, to serve as instructors at the event.

In addition to on-field instruction, the NTDP is designed to prepare high-school age athletes for the next step in their baseball careers. This is accomplished by providing education related to strength and conditioning, nutrition, the MLB scouting process, NCAA compliance, media training, and character development.

The NTDP will be King's fourth stint with baseball's national governing body. Most recently, he captured a gold medal last summer at the Pan-American Championships with the 18U National Team. Previously, King worked with the Women's National Team Development Program in January 2014 and with the 2013 17U National Team Development Program.

King's Ravens (48-4) laid claim to their record-tying fifth Northeast-10 title this spring and played host to the NCAA Championship East Regional for the seventh time. Franklin Pierce captured its fourth straight Northeast-10 Northeast Division title along the way.
