RINDGE, N.H. (June 7, 2014) -- Senior center fielder Calvin Graves (Boston, Mass.) was selected on Saturday afternoon by the Chicago Cubs in the 27th round (799 overall) of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Graves will likely report to either the Cubs’ Rookie-level affiliate, the Arizona Cubs of the Arizona League, or their Class A short-season affiliate, the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League.

(May 29, 2014) – Junior catcher Matt Walsh (Plymouth, Mass.), senior center fielder Calvin Graves (Boston, Mass.) and junior right-hander Conor Gleason (North Stonington, Conn.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team have all been selected to participate in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star Game, as announced this week by the NEIBA. This year’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.

(May 19, 2014) – Junior catcher Matt Walsh (Plymouth, Mass.) has earned consensus All-East Region accolades, including First-Team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association, as announced over the previous week by the trio of organizations which name All-Region and All-America squads. In addition, junior right-hander Conor Gleason (North Stonington, Conn.) and senior center fielder Calvin Graves (Boston, Mass.) each earned All-East Region honors as well, while junior right-hander Brendan O’Rourke (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Walsh each landed on the ABCA/Rawlings East Region Gold Glove Second Team.

(May 16, 2014) – Sophomore first baseman Scott De Jong clubbed a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth and followed with another in the bottom of the eighth on Friday as sixth-seeded Felician defeated the No. 28 nationally ranked and second-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team, 5-0, on the second day of the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by Southern New Hampshire at Penmen Field. Junior left-hander Jack Fowler tossed a six-hit shutout for Felician, as the Ravens were blanked for the second day in a row.

(May 15, 2014) – A solo home run by senior first baseman JC Brandmaier in the second and a two-run shot by junior catcher Daniel Parisi in the third were enough to put away the No. 28 nationally ranked and second-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team, which dropped a 3-0 decision to fifth-seeded Dowling on Thursday at the first day of the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by Southern New Hampshire at Penmen Field. Senior right-hander Tyler Badamo went the distance and authored a five-hit shutout for Dowling.

(May 11, 2014) – The No. 21 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named as the second seed of the NCAA Championship East Regional, as announced Sunday night by the NCAA. The Ravens, the Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division co-champion, earn an at-large bid in the six-team, double-elimination tournament, which will run Thursday, May 15 through Sunday, May 18 and be hosted by top seed Southern New Hampshire at Penmen Field in Manchester, N.H. Franklin Pierce will open defense of last year’s title and pursuit of its seventh regional crown on Thursday against fifth-seeded Dowling.

(May 7, 2014) – Nine walks and three hit batsmen issued by the pitching staff of the No. 21 nationally ranked and second-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team allowed third-seeded Stonehill to plate 11 runs on just eight hits en route to an 11-4 win in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field. Senior shortstop Dan Fratus went 1-for-4 for Stonehill with a fourth-inning grand slam which proved to be the pivotal blow of the Northeast Division first-round contest.

(May 5, 2014) – Junior right-hander Brendan O’Rourke (Shrewsbury, Mass.) took over in a fourth-inning jam in a 3-3 game and fired 4.1 shutout innings, while sophomore first baseman Matt O’Herron (Springfield, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI hits on Monday afternoon as the No. 21 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University baseball team defeated Bentley, 7-3, in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division play at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field. With the victory, in what was the regular-season finale for both clubs, Franklin Pierce claimed a share of the Northeast Division title.

(May 1, 2014) – Graduate student left-hander Rob Corsi (Oceanport, N.J.) rang up 13 strikeouts over seven innings of shutout, three-hit ball, while the offense provided a 19-hit barrage on Thursday afternoon as the No. 25 Franklin Pierce University baseball team bounced back with a 13-2 win to forge a doubleheader split with Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division play at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field. In the first game, early control trouble for the pitching staff and an offense which struggled through the early innings cost the Ravens in a 5-4 loss.

(April 30, 2014) – Junior catcher Matt Walsh (Plymouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on April 27, as announced Monday by the Conference office. In addition, Franklin Pierce is now ranked No. 25 nationally in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll and is receiving votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll, as well as third in the NCBWA East Region Poll, as announced Tuesday. Walsh was later named East Region Player of the Week by the NCBWA.

(April 29, 2014) – For his second straight outing against one of the top teams in the East Region, junior right-hander Conor Gleason (North Stonington, Conn.) threw over seven innings of one-hit ball, as he struck out 13 over eight one-hit innings on Tuesday night to lead the No. 25 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University baseball team to a 4-1 victory over No. 20 Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division action at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field. Junior right fielder John Razzino (Cranston, R.I.) had a pair of RBI singles in the win for Franklin Pierce.

(April 27, 2014) – Junior catcher Matt Walsh (Plymouth, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with three home runs and drove in seven runs in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon to lead the No. 28 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University baseball team to an 11-1 win and a sweep of Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division play at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field. Freshman first baseman Adam Routhier (Goffstown, N.H.) and sophomore shortstop Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.) hit home runs in the first game to highlight a 6-2 Franklin Pierce win.
