Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 36th round (1,109 overall) of the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Through the end of his junior season, ranked second all-time in program history in earned-run average (2.07) and tied for eighth in wins (16).
Among program single-season records, through the end of his junior season, was tied for first in wins (11, 2011), ranked second in earned-run average (1.23, 2011), ranked third in strikeouts (114, 2011), and ranked fourth in innings pitched (95, 2011).
