Blood Promoted to Seattle's Single-A advanced team in San Bernardino

Hunter Brown, the Seattle Mariners 22nd-round choice in the June 2002 draft, has been assigned to the Everett AquaSox.

A senior at Rice University, Brown and his team made it to game seven of the College World Series this year before being eliminated by Notre Dame last Monday. An infielder at Rice, Brown batted .278 (59x208) with seven home runs, 35 RBI and 10 stolen bases during the regular season.

Pitcher Justin Blood and infielder Eddie Menchaca leave today for San Bernardino, the Mariners single-A advanced team in California.

Blood, a left-handed reliever, made two appearances with the AquaSox this season. He struck out eight batters in four innings of work and allowing one hit. He earned his first save of the season in Sunday's game against the Spokane Indians.

Menchaca, who made brief appearances with the Mariner's Triple-A and Double-A affiliates at the start of this season, was batting .182 (4x22) with three RBI in six games with the Sox.
