Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (February 1, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University has had five student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Friday afternoon by the Conference office. Senior midfielder Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) of the field hockey team, sophomore forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) and junior back Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) of the men’s soccer team, and junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) of the women’s soccer team, were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 88 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must fulfill each of the following criteria: (1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions as a starter or significant contributor, (2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and (3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The teams are chosen by the vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives. In addition, one honoree in each sport is selected as the NE10’s Sport Excellence award winner in that sport. Sport Excellence award winners will be announced by the NE10 next week.

It is the second straight Academic All-Conference selection for Moulton, while the other four Ravens earned the accolade for the first time in their respective careers.

Moulton is a health sciences major who sports a 3.52 GPA. She earned All-NE10 Second Team honors this fall for the second straight season, and was also selected to the NE10 All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2015. Moulton started all 18 games in the midfield for the Ravens in 2018 and finished as the team’s leading scorer with 11 points, on three goals and five assists. She attempted 41 shots, including 18 shots on goal.

Felber carries a 3.97 GPA as a management major. He has racked up the academic awards this year, as he was a CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team selection, after earning Academic All-District First Team honors. For his work on the field, Felber earned All-NE10 Third Team accolades this fall, after landing on the NE10 All-Rookie Team a year ago. He played in all 18 games for the Ravens this year, including 17 starts, and tied for the team scoring lead with 15 points, on six goals and three assists. Felber attempted 43 shots, including 21 shots on goal, and tallied three game-winning goals.

Laudahn is majoring in management as well, and also currently owns a 3.97 GPA. He was an All-NE10 Second Team pick this fall, and also earned NE10 All-Rookie Team accolades as a freshman in 2016. Laudahn started all 18 games on the backline for the Ravens in 2018 and picked up one assist along the way. He recorded 18 shot attempts, including five shots on goal.

Marques wrapped up the fall semester with a 3.79 GPA as a sports and recreation management major. She piled up the accolades in the fall, as she was an All-America First Team pick by United Soccer Coaches, a consensus All-East Region First Team selection by USC and the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association, the NE10 Player of the Year and an All-NE10 First Team selection. Marques played in all 20 games for the Ravens, including 19 starts, and finished as the team’s leading scorer with 40 points, on 15 goals and 10 assists. She attempted 87 shots, including 45 shots on goal, and chalked up eight game-winning goals.

Finally, Turmo is a management major with a 3.77 GPA. It is not her first academic award of the year, as she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team, after earning Academic All-District First Team honors. On the field, Turmo earned consensus All-America Third Team honors from USC and D2CCA, consensus All-East Region First Team selections from the same organizations, NE10 Defensive Player of the Year plaudits and All-NE10 First Team accolades. She started all 20 games on the backline for the Ravens and finished with seven points, on two goals and three assists. Turmo attempted 15 shots on the season, including six shots on goal.
